While divorce rates in the U.S. are changing, 42% of marriages still end in separation. During this stressful time, people will cope in different ways. In the December issue of Women’s Health, actress Kaley Cuoco says that she turned to fitness following her split from her ex-husband, tennis player Ryan Sweeting.
The couple was married in December 2013, and split in September of 2015. Their divorce was finalized in May 2016. Cuoco said that the separation was very hard and took a toll on her emotions. Instead of sulking, however, she took to the gym. While the actress has always been an active equestrian, owning several horses in whom she confided during the separation, she only recently began turning to more traditional forms of exercise. She says the problem was that she couldn’t find something that she truly enjoyed. Eventually, she turned to yoga, which has a number of health benefits for both the body and mind. “I’ve cried numerous times in yoga,” said Cuoco. “The best part is I’m sweating so bad no one can tell.” She also said that she cried during SoulCycle classes. “It’s so dark, you can cry in there too. Everyone’s going through stuff in their lives, every single person.” Her early morning yoga regiment is clearly working. But in addition to daily workouts, Cuoco has also started eating clean and fueling her body with healthy foods. She’s completely omitted meat from her diet, although she still does eat fish. She says that she has salmon and vegetables almost every night for dinner. Portion control has also been a big area of focus for her. “I have a sandwich halfway through the day. Half. Always eat half…we eat our entire plate and by the end we just want to fall over because we’ve totally overeaten,” she said. For nightly cravings, which she says is a huge downfall of hers, she likes to reach for a piece of fruit, celery, or peanut butter. Cuoco firmly believes that abs are made in the kitchen. Looking at hers, it’s hard to argue. These days, Cuoco is dating professional equestrian Karl Cook. |
